For more than five decades, Jonas Perkins has created sculptural portraits of figures who have shaped American history, culture, and public life.Trained at the Art Institute of Chicago and later in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Perkins has built a career around portraiture—working in bronze to capture not simply a likeness, but something of the character and moment surrounding his subjects.His body of work spans presidents, civil-rights leaders, artists, entertainers, and other notable Americans. Presidential and political subjects have included Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and works connected with the administrations and eras of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.The Donald continues that tradition of portraiture, documenting another consequential figure in American history through Perkins’ distinctive sculptural perspective.
